Take Time to Breathe

Oh the randomness that can occur in college dorm rooms. Right now I'm avoiding the studying for a quiz tomorrow. As for the my room? My roommate and her friend are doing P90X behind me. Needless to say it was a little distracting for me to do work. But it's kinda funny to listen to. Anyway, break was break. Too short as usual. I managed to not get ahead on work like I planned to, but that's fine. And I worked way too much. I'm so glad to be back but don't worry I already have a countdown to Christmas break (less than three weeks!).The break was much needed and destressed me before my final two weeks before finals start. There's a certain feeling that I absolutely love but can't really put into words. It's the drive to and from school. My drive is only three hours. But when I left last Friday to go home the drive was great because at the end of three hours I would be home, sleeping in my own bed, and eating home cooked meals. But then, yesterday when driving back to school I felt reenergized. I could'nt wait to be back. But hey, maybe that's just me. Not a lot of people truly enjoy driving long distances like I do.
My Christmas decorations are all up in my room which can only mean one thing . . . Holiday weekend! This weekend will be full of Christmasy-things. It is hands down one of my favorite traditions here at Elmira, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I love Christmas as it is. More to follow about this weekend I am sure. Now, time to get back to reality.

Happy & Hopeful

So last week was busy. But not just with work. It's true that I did have to go to class on Vetrans' Day. It's one of those things you just can't avoid here. But, last Thursday was pretty exciting. We had our first Term Theme Dinner. What was the theme you wonder? Simeon's HoeDown Throw Down. The food included ribs and chicken, potatoe salad and corn on the cob. In addition, keeping with the theme, there was a vegtable stand and a friut stand that included homemade chocolate covered apples. My personal favorite was the fact that the DJ played some good ol' country music. Now, I have felt the mild teasing of liking country music, but hey - it's what I like. And Thurday I got to embrace it as much as possible. Dinning Services also arranged for bull riding and old time pictures. After themed dinner, I went and hung around with my friend until 9:00. At that point Hoops Hysteria started. Hoops Hysteria is like an opening day for the Men's and Women's Basketball teams. They play within each other, have a three point shoot out. The cheer teams and dance teams are there too. It's a great school spirited event. But the best part is the chance of winning something big. This year there were flat screen tvs they raffled off. Sad to say that I did not win, but I did get my free tee shirt. Purple and Gold - of course! Thursday was a really nice pick-me-up. It was one of those days were we realized tradition is why we came here and stay here. This weekend I devoted a lot of my time to sleeping (because I know this week will bring late nights and early mornings) and studing. Too much work in the beginning of the week not to be. I'm sure I'll post more at the end of the week describing the anticipated moment of finally driving home!

'Oh hey November, didn't see you there"

Hey guys. So it's about to get a little crazy on campus. This week is kind of like the calm before the storm. With the last two weeks before Thanksgiving Break professors are kindly bombing me work. Not so much homework, but hours of studying to do. Next week I have an Microeconomics Exam and a Business Administration Exam. Then, the next week I have a huge Accounting Exam. But, it all comes with the major I guess. As for Marketing this week and next week are pretty interesting. My professor, Professor Wolfe, is actually in Japan right now. That just goes to show she really knows her stuff! So on Mondays and Wednsdays during class we have guest lecturers; which is really great because we get a fresh look at things and it's a nice break from the routine. And on Fridays we get to meet in our teams. In the Principles of Marketing class we are broken up into teams and work all Term on developing a new product. This term our goal was to make a new kind of cheese product that would capture consumers. Now, I can't let you know what our idea is just yet because it is a competition. But I will be sure to let you know how everything goes after we present during exam week. That's right, instead of a stressful, long, and panic-attack enducing final exam I have to propose a new product in a formal business meeting. That's what I love about that class; it really puts the emphysis on "real-world experience." I mean, if you guys haven't guessed already Marketing is my favorite class. Not to say I don't like my others, just that those are more building blocks for what I have to know. Marketing is more what I want to learn.
Hmm. What else? JV Basketball starts this Sunday. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried. That's why I'm forcing myself to go to the gym. Run, run, run. Actually, it's not soo bad. This year the fitness center got some TVs so I have something to look at besides just staring into nothingness. In addition to basketball starting this weekend and going to the gym this week I have tutoring, Spanish club, Relay for Life committee meeting and Colleges Against Cancer meeting. So busy, but that's how I like it. Just working my way to Saturday where I have nothing scheduled and plan on doing just that. Okay, I guess that's all for now. Byeeeee!
